Meaning the world in a teapot, this project explores the relationship between art, value, and reality. The virtual photography project is based on The Sims game, where players direct their characters to take photos, the value of which is calculated based on composition, lighting, and other formal qualities. This quantified artistic value then functions as currency for the Sims' survival in the game world. While subjectivity and external influences often shape art's worth, the project also examines how virtual worlds, though idealized, remain vulnerable to the same forces molding reality. As in real life, beauty and meaning have a price in this virtual economy. Yet, artistic expression retains an innate value, even when reduced to a transactional commodity.
